Check for Scene Safety

first aid training

As you respond to any person in need of assistance, we have to insure our safety. Thus, it is important to survey the scene for any hazards before providing care.

Hazards could be anything that may tend to cause harm or injury to you, to the victim, to the bystanders. This may include, fire, possible explosion, falling, drowning, electrocution etc.

Make the scene safe. If it is impossible to make the scene safe, it would be better to wait for professional help rather than risk your life and become a victim yourself.

A basic rule in First aid is!

Never move and injured victim, unless it is necessary to prevent additional injury or death.
